Does Costco Sell Lasagna?
Yes! Our local Costco sold three types of lasagna. In the refrigerated section, there was Rana Beef and Short RIb Lasagna. In contrast, the freezer contained two Kirkland Signature Lasaganas, one containing beef and the other containing beef and sausage. We’ve heard of some locations carrying fresh ravioli lasagna but have yet to find it.
All of the trays were approximately the same size. The main difference was in the ingredients. All contained beef, one had added sausage, and the other had short ribs.
The Rana was the most expensive at about $18 for one, while the others were $19 for two.
How To Cook Costco Lasagna
You can cook Kirkland Signature Lasagna frozen or thawed. The cooking instructions are made explicitly for cooking from frozen, so if you defrost, you’ll need to adjust the cooking temperature and time.
Whatever method you employ, ensure the lasagna reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees, the proper temperature to kill pathogens that cause food born illness.
Can I Cook Costco Lasagna From Frozen?
Yes, you can cook Kirkland Signature Lasagna from frozen. It’s the preferred method for most of the Costco lasagnas. Rana Short Rib Beef Lasagna is sold refrigerated but can be frozen, too.
To cook the Rana Lasagna from frozen, cover the tray with aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet in the oven. Bake in a 375-degree preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Remove the cover and bake for a few more minutes to brown the top if desired.
To cook Kirkland Signature Sausage and Beef Lasagna from frozen, cut a two-inch slit in the plastic cover and place it on a baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 40-50 minutes. Remove the plastic and bake for 5-10 more minutes to brown. Take out of the oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Let the lasagna stand for at least five minutes before serving. The cooling time saves your tongue from getting burned and allows the flavors to meld and the layers to stay together better.
Can You Cook Costco Lasagna Thawed?
You can cook a thawed Costco lasagna, but there are some caveats.
It is essential to thaw the dish properly to prevent food born illness. This means the lasagna is defrosted in the fridge overnight and not on the counter. You want to make sure the food is thawed fully before cooking. It won’t cook evenly if some spots are still frozen.
The cooking instructions for the Kirkland Signature Lasagnas are explicitly meant for it in the frozen state. If you thaw it first, decrease the cooking time by half and check the internal temperature. It’s done when the temp in the middle of the dish reaches 165 degrees.
How To Thaw Costco Lasagna
You can cook Costco lasagna directly from frozen. It’s the preferred method for the Kirkland Signature varieties. To defrost the lasagna, place it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
We do not recommend using a water bath to defrost. The time it takes to do that is more than the additional cooking time needed to cook a frozen lasagna. Water thawing may cause soggy results.
How To Cook Costco Lasagna Faster
If you want to cook Costco lasagna faster, use the microwave, which has it ready in 20 minutes. Take off the cardboard sleeve and cut a 2” slit in the plastic cover. Cook on high for 10 minutes, remove the plastic, and cook for 8 minutes more at 50% power.
This method results in a melty lasagna. If you like it crispy, place it on a baking sheet and under the broiler for a few minutes. Watch it closely, and do not place it close to the burner.
Can You Cook Two Lasagnas At Once?
One Costco lasagna does NOT feed a crowd. You can cook two lasagnas in one oven. Here’s how.
Place one oven shelf in the middle and the other as close as possible. Place lasagnas on separate baking sheets (13×9 quarter sheets are best). Put them in the oven on different shelves, both oriented so the shorter side faces the back. Switch spots halfway through cooking. Baking times and temperatures stay the same.
We’ve tried cooking them next to one another in our standard oven, it works, but it’s a very tight fit.
How To Store Costco Lasagna
Do not leave food on the counter for longer than two hours. This time is shorter if it’s 90 degrees or hotter inside your home.
Place any leftovers in an airtight plastic or glass container and store them in the refrigerator. Cooked Costco lasagna is good for 3-4 days if properly stored but lead with your senses. If something doesn’t look or smell good, it’s best to toss it.
You can freeze cooked lasagna, although the quality may degrade a bit. If you wish to store leftovers in a freezer bag, place them on a baking sheet in the freezer for a few hours to firm up, then put them in the bag for longer-term storage. Make sure you label the bag with the item and date. Frozen cooked Costco lasagna should last in the freezer for three months.
Defrost the frozen cooked Costco lasagna in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat in the microwave for a few minutes.
An Honest Costco Lasagna Review/ Is Costco’s Frozen Lasagna Good?
Truthfully, we didn’t have high hopes for this product. Over the years, we’ve tried a few frozen lasagnas, and they never seem to get it right. They are either too salty or spicy, which is not true for Costco lasagnas.
We liked them all!
Our favorite was the Rana Short Rib Beef Lasagna. It has an outstanding balance of meat, cheese, and sauce and the perfect flavor. It wasn’t too sweet or salty. It was similar to what you would get at a casual Italian restaurant.
Our only gripe was that it was the smallest of the bunch, so it was barely enough to feed a hungry family of four. You need a salad or breadsticks to stretch the meal a little further.
As for the Kirkland Signature Lasagnas we liked both. The sausage and beef variety had a little more flavor than the beef version, which means you will get some bites of spicy sausage. If you have picky eaters, buy the beef-only version.
Which Costco Lasagna is Better?
While we enjoyed all three versions, our pick would be the Rana Short Rib and Beef variety for a small family.
For a larger group, make two Kirkland Signature Beef Lasagnas. They are standard recipes that everyone will enjoy.
The Kirkland Signature Sausage and Beef Lasagna has some spiciness that may turn off some eaters.
How Big Is A Costco Lasagna— How Many People Will A Costco Lasagna Feed?
The Costco lasagnas are smaller than you think. One tray was not enough to feed my family of four. A typical lasagna has three rows of noodles. These only have two.
A standard lasagna serving size is 1.5 cups. Each tray of Kirkland Signature Lasagna contains six cups, about four servings. If you have four hungry eaters, make a side dish. For parties of more than four, make a second tray.
