    Breaking down the name gives us more insight. Yaki means over direct heat, while soba means noodles. Soba also refers to buckwheat, but in this instance, it’s the broad term for noodles since the dish includes Chinese Style Noodles made from wheat flour, alkaline salt, and water. 

    While Costco yakisoba stir fry includes chicken, the dish is so versatile any protein works here. Recipes include shrimp, chicken, beef, mushroom, or tofu.

    I am typically leery of pre-cooked meals. I usually find them overly salty, and after making this meal at home several times and knowing the sauce’s ingredients, I had low hopes. This was not the case — the Chicken Yakisoba stir fry from Costco is excellent!

    Costco Yakisoba stir fry is an ideal choice for an easy weeknight dinner. It takes minutes to prepare, and my whole family enjoyed it.

    Besides adding nutritional value, bell peppers, red onions, broccoli, celery, and snap peas provide a crunch that balances the texture. The sauce lacks the typical Worcestershire and oyster sauces, which may be why it isn’t too salty. Not to worry, there is still plenty of flavor.

    The portion is average, and it was just enough to feed my family of four. If you have hearty eaters, add some extra noodles and vegetables. At under $20, you can’t beat the price, as fast food is often double that. 

    Yakisoba Noodles Costco Cooking Instructions

    It’s straightforward to cook Costco Yakisoba Stir Fry since everything is pre-cooked; you are just reheating. It’s important to cook in steps.

    1. Heat ¼ cup of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
    2. Add the vegetables and cook for two minutes.
    3. Add the chicken and cook for two minutes.
    4. Add the sauce and noodles and cook for one-two minutes. 

    The directions on the container suggest one minute for the noodles, although we’ve found that they take longer to soften. Check the noodles for doneness after a minute or two.

    The USDA recommends cooking leftovers until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees which is hot enough to kill harmful bacteria that cause food poisoning.

    The Costco Yakisoba Stir Fry costs $5.99 per pound—the containers average from about 3.25 to 3.75 pounds.  We paid $19.53 for a little over three pounds, just enough to feed our family of four. 

    Our local sushi restaurant serves a similar yakisoba dish for $15. 

    If you want a great prepared meal, Costco yakisoba stir fry is a terrific deal. Most fast-food places charge $10 per meal!

    What Is The Sauce On Costco Yakisoba Noodles?

    A primary component of yakisoba is the salty and slightly sweet sauce. The Costco yakisoba stir fry sauce contains the following ingredients:












    This sauce strays from most recipes since it lacks Worcestershire and oyster sauces. The flavor is slightly more muted than in other recipes but less salty. 

    Does Yakisoba Taste Like Ramen?

    Yakisoba and ramen are different dishes, but the noodles are similar. Ramen is a broth-based dish, while yakisoba is a quick pan-fried noodle dish. Ramen is salty, while yakisoba is salty-sweet.

    Yakisoba and ramen noodles contain wheat flour, kansui (alkaline salt), and water. Even though the noodles are yellowish, they are not egg noodles, and the color is the result of using kansui. The noodles are steamed and packaged, and ready for a quick reheat.
