    Costco Scalloped Potatoes Gluten-Free

Costco scalloped potatoes are not labeled gluten-free, so it’s best to proceed cautiously. I contacted the company asking if the product contains gluten, and they responded with the following in an email:

“The safety of our customers is very important to us and all gluten sources will always be listed plainly on our labels.  While many of our products do not contain gluten, out of an abundance of caution, Reser's Fine Foods has made the decision not to represent our products as gluten free due to the fact gluten containing ingredients are stored in close proximity to other ingredients.  In addition, products are processed on the same equipment as gluten containing products.  In light of this, we cannot claim with 100% certainty that some trace levels of gluten could not be present in any product we produce.”

    Does Costco Make Scalloped Potatoes

Costco did NOT make the only scalloped potatoes we’ve seen at the warehouse. The company has carried Main Street Bistro Scalloped Potatoes since at least 2022. The packaged version is in the refrigerated section with other prepared foods.

Costco Scalloped Potatoes Instructions — How Long Do You Cook Costco Scalloped Potatoes

There are two ways to cook Costco Scalloped Potatoes: in the microwave or the oven.

How To Cook Costco Scalloped Potatoes in The Microwave:

    1. Remove the film and cardboard.
    2. Heat on high for 7-8 minutes. If your microwave has no rotating tray, turn the package ½ around halfway through cooking.
    3. Let stand for one minute before serving.

How To Cook Costco Scalloped Potatoes in The Oven:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Remove the film and cardboard packaging.
    3. Place the tray on a baking sheet and cook for 20-25 minutes or until hot.

Can You Freeze Costco Scalloped Potatoes?

Yes! We’ve successfully frozen and defrosted Costco Scalloped Potatoes, which was very easy. Now, it may not be 100 percent necessary to freeze them since they have a fairly long refrigerated life, but if you need space or don’t have an immediate plan to cook them, just put the container in the freezer as is. There is no need to do anything special since the product is wrapped in plastic and sealed on the inside.

Costco Scalloped Potatoes should last up to three months. Place them in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to defrost. We’ve cooked them from frozen with great results, but you must add lots of cooking time. Ours took almost 5o minutes before they reached the internal temperature of 165 degrees.

Are The Scalloped Potatoes At Costco Good? An Honest Costco Scalloped Potatoes Review

These Costco Scalloped Potatoes are ok. We liked them but didn't LOVE them. We won't purchase them again, but we can see a group that may want to purchase (and one that may want to steer clear).

We love how easy they are to cook. Simply pop them in the oven or microwave; boom, they are done with little effort. They have a neutral flavor, so they go with many dishes, including steak, chicken, pork, and panko shrimp. They freeze really well, so you can buy and cook them whenever convenient.

That’s the good part. Here’s the not-so-great stuff. They are a little bland. While the ingredient list includes several cheeses, you don’t really taste any of them, and the dish just falls flat. This is easily remedied by adding veggies or meats, but that negates the heat and eat quality that makes this product desirable.

If you like your food on the simpler side or need a dish that complements a flavorful main course, try these potatoes. Also, if you are up to adding some ingredients to jazz the dish up, try it out. Those following low-fat and heart-healthy diets may want to think twice, as Costco Scalloped Potatoes contain a whopping 9 grams of saturated fat per 1/2 cup serving.

How Do You Doctor Up Costco Scalloped Potatoes

    Costco Scalloped Potatoes With Ham

Before trying the Costco Scalloped Potatoes, I read a lot of comments on the web about them, and many reviewers found them to be bland. I have to agree. But all is not lost! If you want to doctor up Costco Scalloped Potatoes, we’ve got nine easy ways to add flavor.

9 Ways To Doctor Up Costco Scalloped Potatoes:

    1. Add chopped ham. We love the ham steaks in the warehouse for this use; they are precooked, so you just need to chop them.
    2. Add finely chopped broccoli. Big florets don’t work here; they are clunky to eat, throwing the dish’s texture off. Instead, chop the broccoli into small pieces so it cooks better;
    3. Add onions! Throw in some caramelized onions or even packaged crispy fried ones you use for your Green Bean Casserole from Thanksgiving. Try the All Recipes crock pot method if you don’t want to stand by the oven stirring for too long. It’s completely hands-off.
    4. Add chopped kielbasa. If you want to amplify the flavor, salty kielbasa is a great way to go. It will warm but not get crispy outside during cooking. If that’s what you like, cut the meat into thin disks, sear, and add to the Costco Scalloped Potatoes.
    5. Another great option to add flavor to Costco Scalloped potatoes is chorizo. It’s an excellent flavor-boosting addition whether you use the Mexican or Spanish variety.
    6. Bacon and potatoes are the ultimate combination. Mix in some cooked chopped bacon and mix or top with some bacon bits.
    7. Truffle flavor takes a dish from ho-hum to over the top in a second. But do not overdo it! A slight drizzle is all you need. Amazon has some excellent options.
    8. Make it a complete meal with some cooked ground beef and extra shredded cheddar to bind.
    9. Lightly sauteed mushrooms in olive oil and butter and add to Costco Scalloped Potatoes for an earthy twist. Don’t crowd the pan when cooking the mushrooms. Too many in the pan will steam them, not sautee. No one wants soggy mushrooms.
