Costco Tempura Shrimp 2024 Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

Costco tempura shrimp is a go-to option worth exploring.

Costco tempura shrimp is a popular and mouth-watering choice among frequent warehouse wanderers.

We all know the feeling of scanning the aisles for something delicious yet convenient to satisfy our seafood cravings, but we don’t want to waste our hard-earned dollars on something that turns out to be a dud.

Read on as we explore the taste of Costco tempura shrimp, share cooking instructions for achieving that perfect crunch, and discuss if this product is not only delectable but also cost-effective for your budget.

Is Costco Tempura Shrimp a Hit — An Honest Review

Shrimp Tempura holds a special place in our seafood-loving hearts. It manages to be flaky and light while still having a bit of crunch.  With each bite, you get a burst of crackly goodness that satisfies your taste buds and your craving for something crunchy.

But is Costco Shrimp Tempura any good?

While it’s not perfect, it’s pretty good! We’d rate it a 7/10, and here’s why.

    Delicious Flavor and Crispy Texture

The outer layer is crispy and golden brown, giving way to juicy, flavorful shrimp inside. The combination of the crunchy coating and succulent shrimp creates a harmonious play of textures that tantalizes our senses and leaves us craving more. That being stated, it’s not as light as what you’d get from a restaurant.

The texture of the shrimp is excellent. Despite being coated and fried, it manages to remain moist. While the shrimp has meatiness, there isn’t a strong flavor, which was a significant plus for my kids.

    Quality and Freshness

One of the reasons Costco tempura shrimp stands out is its unwavering commitment to quality and freshness. Costco takes pride in sourcing the finest seafood products to ensure customers get the best.

The shrimp used in this product is farm-raised in Vietnam. While the term farm-raised may raise flags for some, this practice has exploded to keep up with American’s appetite for shrimp. The crustacean holds the top spot for most consumed seafood, with almost six pounds per person eaten in 2020, according to Seafood Source.

Vietnam is “a top exporter of shrimp and prawns to the U.S., claiming an 8 percent share of 2022 imports. However, approximately 30 percent of tiger prawns farmed in Vietnam are rated Red,” according to Seafood Watch

    Easy Preparation for Quick Meals

Costco tempura shrimp is the way to go when you want a quick and satisfying meal. There’s no need to spend hours in the kitchen—pop these crispy shrimp in the oven, and they’ll be ready in no time. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or feeding a hungry crowd, the convenience of these tempura shrimp will make mealtime a breeze.

    Overall Review

Whether looking for a quick appetizer or a delicious main course, Costco tempura shrimp ticks the boxes for seafood enthusiasts. While it has little shrimp flavor and is denser than a restaurant version, the combination of mouthwatering flavor, satisfying crunch, and guaranteed freshness makes it a hit among frequent Costco shoppers.
